We just returned from a nice vacation in Tropea. Cristian Buttafuoco and his family were wonderful hosts and he provided valuable information to make our stay enjoyable.
We stayed in the smaller of the two villas and it accommodated 2 adults and a child comfortably (the travel crib worked great for our son). The property is quiet, with a wonderful sea view and bearing lemon trees. The rooftop terrace provides an additional option for relaxing and/or eating.
It’s very close to the train station, but there must only be very light trains as you can barely hear them. The beach is about 5 minutes away by car (Beware that certain streets in the city center are only open to residents, so be sure to ask before you drive into town). There are at least two routes to get there, but the shorter one includes some narrow turns.
The slightly longer route is a little easier to navigate. If you don’t have a car, you can still walk to the city and beach. Just be advised that at night, the roads that lead to the villa can be quite dark and drivers can be aggressive, so be careful. The city center has many shops with souvenirs, there are also several restaurants you can enjoy. If we are ever fortunate enough to return to Calabria, we would definitely like to stay here again!
